Girls continue to struggle

Jeff Davis High’s girls basketball team continued its struggles in 2023 as they lost five games to fall to 1-13 for the season and 0-4 in region action.
Coach KatyBeth Rentz’ charges lost to Berrien 56-14, Dodge County 67-17, Worth County 55-23, Pierce County 72-11 and Cook 61-29.
Bentlee Metts’ six points led Jeff Davis against Berrien. Latrice Shivers and Analese Poole had four apiece and Kelsey Parlor added two.
Jerdaie Jenkins topped Berrien with 16.
Poole led the JD scoring against Dodge with nine points. Jenna Miles had four and Alera Vann and Metts two each.
Althessa Gooch led the Lady Indians with 13.
Seven Lady Jackets scored against Worth County topped by Poore with nine. Shivers had five, Vann, Metts, Claire Stinson and Destiny Ivory two apiece, and Parlor added a free throw.
The Lady Bears from Pierce County had no problems against the Lady Jackets as they rolled to the 72-11 victory. Poole sopped JD’s scoring with five, and Shivers, Stinson and Shantie Lewis had two each.
Bella Delaney led Pierce with 16.
