Jackets had toughest schedule in the state

Georgia High School Football Daily web site last week listed the teams in the state that had the toughest schedules during the 2022 football season.
It should come as no surprise that Jeff Davis High, which finished the season 1-9, ranked No. 1 in Class 2A for strength of schedule. And right behind them in the No. 2 slot was Sumter County.
The rankings, measured by the computer Maxwell Ratings, also stood as a testament to the strength of Region 1-AA as five of the top 10 strength of schedule schools were in the region. Of course, each of the region schools had to play each other during the regular season, adding to the strength of their schedules.
Below are the Maxwell Ratings for strength of schedule. And below that are the final regular season records for the Yellow Jackets’ 10 opponents.
