Jayvees Down West Laurens 7-6

Jeff Davis High’s junior varsity baseball team squeaked out a 7-6 win over West Laurens Monday in Hazlehurst.
A big 4-run second inning vaulted the Jackets into a 6-3 lead and they held on from there.
Jude Worthington drove in what proved to be the winning run in the sixth as Dylan Carelock was hit by a pitch, and pinch runner Holden Ellis went to second on a balk. With two outs, Worthington hit a line drive single to center to score Ellis.
Worthington led the Jackets at the plate with a pair of singles and two RBI. Carter Wooten and Eli Saunders both had a single and two RBI, Jonathan Bohannon singled and drove in a run, and Andrew White and Colby Beach both singled. Saunders also had a sacrifice.
Saunders was the winning pitcher. He threw four innings, giving up three unearned runs on four hits, hit one, walked none and struck out six.
Braydon Lolley pitched two innings, giving up two runs on two hits, walking four, hitting one and striking out two. Kamden Munsayac pitched the final inning. He gave up an unearned run on one hit, walked none and got all three outs in the inning via strikeout.
