Jeff Davis splits with CCA

Jeff Davis High’s basketball teams split their games with Citizens Christian Academy last week in Douglas with the JD girls falling 59-28 and the Jacket boys taking a 62-49 win.
CCA’s girls jumped out to an early lead and held a 29-12 halftime advantage and the second half was a breeze for them.
Tia Cornish led the Lady Jacket with 9 points including a 3-pt. shot, Morgan Yearty had 8, Jasmin McNeely hit a 3-pointer, Jekiya Smith and Destiny Ivory had 3 each and Autumn Rhodes added 2 points.
Addy Harris and Addle Vickers paced CCA with 17 and 10 points.
The boys game started slowly and the game was close throughout with the Jackets leading by only 6 after three quarters, 42-36. But Bran Swain led the Jackets to a 20-13 final quarter advantage as the visitors ran going away.
Swain finished with 20 points and was joined in double figures by C.J. Parker and Mike Dotson with 12 and 11. Ahmod Clements had 8, Malachi Smuith 7 and Brandon Sturgis 4. Smith hit the Jackets’ only shot from beyond the arc.
Brock Anderson led CCA with 20 and Walker Altman had 15.
The JD teams hosted Toombs County last night (Tuesday) in a Region 2-AA contest. This Saturday they are at home against Appling County and next Tuesday Bacon County visits for another region matchup.
