Scott Named County Administrator
At last Tuesday’s meeting of the Jeff Davis County Board of Commissioners, the commission approved promoting County Clerk Heather Scott to the position of County Administrator, a position made vacant by the resignation of County Administrator Oakley Perry.
Scott, a native of Emanuel County, is married to Jeff Davis County native Kevin Scott. The two were married Aug. 1, 2020, and they reside in Toombs County. They share three children, Koby, Aubrey and Dalton Scott. The Scotts are members of Cedar Crossing Baptist Church where Heather teaches the 3rd-5th grade class on Wednesday nights.
Mrs. Scott is a graduate of East Georgia College and Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service.
“Marrying and moving to Toombs County is what brought me to Jeff Davis County,” Scott said. “I accepted the job as County Clerk in 2020 and, coming into a county where I knew no one but everyone knew my husband was interesting. But I have met some great people and formed some great relationships.”
“I have years of experience in serving communities and helping others, especially in their time of need,” she said. “It is an honor to be named the first woman to take this position. I am excited, yet a little nervous for my new position, but I look forward to working with everyone in the County to help make Jeff Davis a great place to live.”
