Blue Team Wins Conference

Members of the conference champion Jeff Davis Middle School Blue Team are #1 Haydon King, #2 Colby Beach, #3 Eli Saunders, #4 Andrew White, #5 Brayden Lolley, #6 Jonathan Bohannon, #7 Messiah Swinson, #8 Dylan Carelock, #9 Kanon Mathis, #10 Carter Wooten, #11 Jude Worthington, #12 Malachi Smith, #13 Jaxson Tomberlin, #14 Thomas Guinn, #15 Juan Pena, #16 Mason Ragland, #17 Reese Mullis, #18 Thomas Gilbert, #25 Ethan Baltazar and manager Alex Brown. Coaches were Brett Wilcox and Justin Kilpatrick and bus driver was Johnny Bohannon.

Jeff Davis Middle School’s Blue Team captured the conference championship last week with an 8-5 win over Bleckley County Tuesday in Hazlehurst and an 11-4 victory over West Laurens Thursday at West Laurens. The Yellow Jackets finished the season with a 16-4 record.
Colby Beach keyed the win over Bleckley County with a single, a double and an RBI. Jonathan Bohannon had a pair of singles and two RBI, Hayden King had two singles and an RBI, Malachi Smith had a single and two RBI, and Eli Saunders and Jude Worthington both had singles.
King, Worthington and Juan Pena each stole two bases and Saunders and Andrew White both swiped a base.
Bohannon was the winning pitcher. He threw five innings, giving up three runs on five hits, walking four and striking out eight. Saunders earned a save pitching two innings and giving up a pair of unearned runs on two hits, a walk and three strikeouts.
In the title game, the Jackets never trailed as they built an 8-0 lead in the sixth inning, led 11-2 entering the bottom of the seventh and held on to take the championship.
Beach again led the offense with a double, a triple and three RBI. Worthington singled, tripled and drove in a run, White tripled, Smith singled and drove in two runs, Bohannon had a single and an RBI, Saunders singled and Dylan Carelock and Carter Wooten each picked up an RBI.
Bohannon had a sacrifice fly and Bohannon, King, Saunders and Smith each stole a base.
White picked up the win on the mound. He went 5 1/3 innings, giving up two runs on two hits and walking five, and got 14 of the 16 outs by strikeout. He struck out the side in the first, second and third innings. Wooten pitch 1 2/3 innings giving up a pair of unearned runs on two hits, walking one and striking out three.
