Tennis girls seeded No. 1
Jeff Davis High School tennis covered lots of ground the past two weeks with region and non-region matches.
On March 16, JD traveled to Wayne County. JDH girls won 5-0 and JD boys lost 2-3.
On March 18, JDH hosted Bacon County. JDH girls won 3-2 and JDH boys lost 0-5.
On March 19, JDH traveled to Brunswick for the annual Golden Isles Invitational. JD girls played Glynn Academy first and won 3-2. JD boys faced off against Glynn Academy as well and lost 1-4. On Saturday, JDH girls face Pierce County for the second time this season. JD girls fell 1-4. In the second match of the day, the girls faced Franklin and lost 1-4 in a close one. Saturday JDH boys played Valdosta and lost 0-5. For the second match of the day, JDH boys played Lowndes County and won 4-1.
On March 23, the Yellow Jackets hosted Toombs. JDH girls won 4-1 while the boys won 5-0.
On March 24, the Jackets hosted East Laurens for the last region match of the regular season. The girls won a close one 3-2 while the boys won 4-1.
On March 25, JDH tennis hosted Dodge for a second match this season. JDH girls won 4-1. JDH boys won 3-2.
The Yellow Jacket girls have finished the region as the #1 seed and have a bye into the second round of the region championship. The Yellow Jacket boys will be seeded #2 in the region and will also have a bye into the second round. JDH will host the Region 2-AA championship April 13.
The team will also host the annual Elliot Carter Memorial Tennis Tournament this weekend at home.
