Soccer boys wallop East Laurens

The Boy Jackets soccer team hosted East Laurens in which would end up a great game for the Jackets.
Ariel Maldonado started the night off for the Jackets by scoring a super free kick in the 3rd minute. Next, Justin Aguirre added to his season tally by scoring two ground shots from rebounds in the 10th and 17th minutes. Pablo Tapia would increase the Jackets’ lead in the 19th minute with a great header coming from a great cross from Kevin Cervantes. Ariel Maldonado would score another goal in the 20th minute to increase the score to a comfortable lead of 5-0. Darian Cortez would add his name to the festival of goals with another ground shot that would leave the keeper with no chance of even attempting to reach it. Lastly, Logan Carelock would finish off the count for the Jackets by scoring a tap in from a corner kick.
The Jackets would hang on to the 7-0 lead. This would be a great win for the Jackets against Eaat Laurens.
The Boy Jackets hosted the Fitzgerald Hurricanes Feb. 19.
This would be a tough opponent for the Jackets who previously had beaten two teams 10-0 and 7-0 respectively.
Both teams started off at an intense rhythm that seemed to continue the whole game. The Jackets were able to control the ball on the offensive side. After a ground shot, the Fitzgerald keeper was not able to gain control of the ball and Kevin Vega took advantage of that mistake in the 8th minute. This would be a crucial moment for the Jackets because they gained control of the ball offensively and defensively.
The Jackets tried to extend their lead but the keeper would have some good saves. This would continue throughout the first half.
Once the 2nd half started, the Jackets would continue the same intensity they ended the first half with. This would lead senior Ivan Franco to control the ball outside of the 18 and take a superb shot in the 52nd minute. The ball flew past the goalkeeper in spectacular fashion giving the Jackets a 2-0 lead. Ivan Franco would take another great shot in the 69th minute that the keeper would have a hard time controlling. This would give Ivan his 2nd goal of the night. The Jackets would continue to play in a spectacular fashion and not let up the intensity the whole game.
Fitzgerald would be given the opportunity to score from a penalty kick after a mistake from the Jackets’ defense. Senior goalkeeper Audiel Plascencia would make a wondrous save to keep a clean sheet.
This adds four clean sheets this season for the Jacket’s defense. The Jackets would dominate the game until the end which saw them take the win 3-0 over Fitzgerald. This gives the Jackets 4 wins and 1 draw this season.
The Jackets will have two back-to-back away region games this week. They traveled to Swainsboro Tuesday. The boys will be back on the road Friday against Woodville where kick off will be at 7.
