Blue Team wins four
Jeff Davis Middle School’s Blue Team rolled to a 15-0, 3-inning win over East Laurens and an 8-6 win over Swainsboro last Wednesday in Hazlehurst, defeated Bleckley last Thursday in Cochran by a 5-4 score and blanked Vidalia Monday in Hazlehurst 6-0..
The Jackets’ 15 runs against East Laurens came on six hits, seven walks, eight hit batters, five wild pitches and two errors.
Eli Saunders had a single, a double and three RBI, Andrew White had a double, Malachi Smith, Kanon Mathis and Mason Ragland each had a single and an RBI, Carter Wooten had two RBI, and Haydon King one RBI.
White was the winning pitcher. He went two innings, giving up no runs on one hit, walking one and striking out four. Wooten pitched an inning, giving up no runs on no hits, no walks and a strikeout.
Against Swainsboro, Smith and Ragland both had two hits and one RBI, White and Jonathan Bohannon each had one hit and two RBI, and Wooten and Saunders both singled.
Saunders was the winning pitcher. He went six innings, giving up one earned run on six hits, walking none and striking out one. Bohannon pitched one inning, with no runs on no hits, no walks and a strikeout.
Against Bleckley, Smith had two singles and an RBI, Wooten and Colby Beach each had a single and an RBI, and Brayden Lolley added a single.
Wooten was the winning pitcher. He went 5 2/3 innings, giving up three earned runs on six hits, walking four and striking out eight. Bohannon pitched 1 1/3 innings, blanking Bleckley on one hit, no walks and two strikeouts.
White had two doubles and an RBI, Wooten had a double and an RBI, Smith doubled and drove in two runs, and King and Jude Worthington singled.
The winning pitcher was Saunders who threw six innings, giving up three hits, walking none and striking out seven. White pitched the final inning, walking one and striking out three.
