Postmaster Winton Lacey Jr. Retiring
Hazlehurst Postmaster Winton Lacey Jr. has announced his retirement from the U.S. Postal Service effective Dec. 18.
PM Lacey began his career with the Postal Service as a part-time flexible clerk in Vidalia in 1996. Four years later, he transferred to the Hazlehurst office. In 2010, he was promoted to Supervisor of Customer Services in Hazlehurst and later that year accepted the Postmaster position in Denton. In 2012, he was promoted to Postmaster of Hazlehurst. Within a year, he was also assigned the additional Postmaster responsibilities for Lumber City and Denton.
“It has been an honor and a privilege to serve my hometown of Hazlehurst for all these years. However, I am looking forward to my retirement and whatever life sends my way,” said Lacey. “Hazlehurst employs extremely dedicated and highly capable people who have always made me look really good and my success is a direct reflection of their efforts. I am confident these employees will continue to provide excellent service to the citizens of Jeff Davis County and Lumber City.”
A new Postmaster will be assigned in the new year.
Congratulations on a job well done. Good luck on your retirement. Enjoy and be blessed and safe.
