JDMS Softball Finishes 2nd

Jeff Davis Middle School’s softball team finished their season Oct. 1, taking a second place finish in the conference tournament.
The Lady Jackets defeated East Laurens 15-6 and then fell in the tournament finals to West Laurens 5-1.
Against East Laurens, Alexa Vann, Ava Bohannon, Kira Buford, Cori Mims and Carrie Arnold each had singles. Claire Stinson and Buford had three RBI each, Bohannon had two RBI, and Mims and Payton Warnock both had one RBI.
Jacqueline Villarreal was the winning pitcher. She gave up six runs on six hits, walked two and struck out five.
Against West Laurens, Buford was 3-for-3 with three singles. Vann, Bohannon and Jazmine Villarreal each singled and Jazmine Villarreal had an RBI.
Alana McCall started on the mound and went 4 1/3 innings. She gave up five runs on seven hits, walked four and struck out one. Mims pitched the last 1 2/3 innings, giving up no runs on two hits, walking one and striking out one.
