JDMS wins Stinger Silver Bracket

Jeff Davis Middle School’s softball team won the 2020 JD Stinger Silver Bracket this weekend, going 3-1 for the day and topping Appling County in the finals with a run in the bottom of the seventh inning to claim a 1-0 victory.
The Lady Jackets also defeated Bleckley County Aug. 19 10-1 and took a 7-5 win over Dodge County last Thursday in Hazlehurst
In the championship game against Appling, Jazmine Villasenor drove in the winning run in the bottom of the seventh inning with a single, the only base hit for JDMS in the game.
Jaqueline Villasenor went the distance on the mound. She gave up four hits, walked two and struck out four.
In the Ware game, Alara McCall and Carrie Ellen Arnold doubled, Claire Stinson and Ava Bohannon had two singles, Kira Buford, Jazmine Villasenor and Cori Mims singled.
Arnold was the winning pitcher. She pitched 3 1/3 innings, gave up five runs on four hits, four walks and a hit batter. Mims pitched 1 2/3 innings, giving up no runs on one hit, walking none and striking out three.
Against Southeast Bulloch, Bohannon had two singles, Jazmine Villasenor doubled and drove in a run and Jaqueline Villasenor singled.
McCall went the distance on the mound, giving up five runs, on four hits, walked two and struck out four.
In the Martha Puckett game, McCall and Alera Vann had two singles, Stinson doubled, and Mims singled.
Jaqueline Villasenor got the win on the mound. She blanked Martha Puckett on three hits, no walks, a hit batter and three strikeouts.
Against Bleckley, McCall, Bohannon, Jaqueline Villasenor and Mims had a pair of singles, and Arnold doubled.
Jaqueline Villasenor went the distance on the mound. She gave up one run on four hits, walked two and struck out seven.
In the Dodge game, Stinson was 4-for-4 with four singles and two RBI, Bohannon had two singles and an RBI, McCall singled and drove in a run, Arnold and Vann had two singles, and Jaqueline Villasenor had a single.
Jaqueline Villasenor pitched seven innings, giving up five runs on four hits, walking two, hitting two and striking out five.
