Jayvees improve to 6-3
Jeff Davis High’s jayvee softball team improved to 10-0 in the last week with a 6-3 win over Telfair County and a 9-5 victory over Coffee County.
Laisha Hernandez led the win over Telfair, going 3-for-3 at the plate. Bentlee Metts and Jenna Miles both doubled, Tia Cornish and Zoe Spencer both tripled and drove in a run, Caitlyn Banks singled, Riley Mathis drove in a run and Annalese Poole had two RBI.
Bianca Torres was the winning pitcher. She gave up two earned runs on four hits, walked two and struck out four.
Against Coffee, Kalleigh Sellers led the offense, going 3-for-4 with a trio of doubles and driving in two runs. Banks had a pair of singles and an RBI, Ella Wood singled and drove in two runs, Poole had a single and an RBI, and Hernandez and Metts each drove in a run.
Torres pitched the first four innings and picked up the win. She gave up two runs on three hits, walked one, hit one and struck out three. Maeleigh Burns threw the final three innings, giving up no earned runs on three hits, walking three and hitting one.
