JD softball falls to Coffee

Jeff Davis High’s softball team got the 2020 season started last Thursday in Douglas with a 2-1 pitchers’ duel loss to Coffee County.
The Lady Jackets managed only one hit, a double to left by Jenna Miles in the fourth inning. Miles went to third as she tagged up on a pop foul out by Jaci Underwood. Analese Poole then grounded out to third to drive home Miles with the first run of the season, giving the Lady Jackets a 1-0 lead.
Coffee came back to score a run in the fifth to tie the game.
In the bottom of the seventh, the Lady Trojans came to bat with the score still tied at 1-1. A pair of two-out singles put runners at 1st and 3rd, and the next batter laid down a bunt single to score the winning run.
Kelsey Parlor went the distance on the mound and took the loss.
She gave up one earned run on three hits, walked three and struck out six.
