Jayvees open with three wins
Jeff Davis Jayvees won their first three games of the season last week, blanking Coffee County Thursday in Douglas 6-0, topping Pierce County 9-6 Friday and rolling to a 24-2 victory over Ware County also on Friday.
Against Coffee, Bentley Metts and Caitlyn Banks both had a single and two RBI, Maeleigh Burns had a single and an RBI, Laniyah Vann singled and Laisha Hernandez drove in a run.
Burns got the win, going three innings, giving up three hits, walking two and striking out one.
Against Pierce, JD got only three hits but took advantage of 11 free passes to get the 9-6 victory.
Jaci Underwood singled and drove in three runs, Jekiya Smithe singled and had two RBI and Burns singled.
Burns gave up five earned runs on six hits, walked two and struck out two.
The win over Ware was aided by seven hits and 13 walks. The game was called with one out in the top of the second.
Metts had a double and a single, Wood singled twice, Jenna Miles doubled, and Underwood and Hernandez both singled. Miles drove in four runs, Metts three, Hernandez two, and Underwood, Wood, Burns, Analese Poole and Kalleigh Sellers one each.
Burns pitched one inning, giving up no earned runs on two hits, walking one and striking out none.
