Jayvees down Berrien, Lee

Jeff Davis High’s Jayvee softball team improved to 5-0 with a pair of wins Saturday in Hazlehurst, 9-1 over Berrien County and 13-0 over Lee County.
Against Berrien, Jaci Underwood had a single, a double and three RBI. Maeleigh Burns had a  single, a double and two RBI, Caitlyn Banks and Jekiya Smith both had doubles with Smith driving in a run, and Kayleigh Sellers had a single and two RBI, and Ella Wood and Jenna Miles both singled. Kelsey Parlor added a sacrifice fly and an RBI.
Underwood was the winning pitcher. She went four innings, giving up one run on one hit, walking three and striking out four. Burns pitched one inning, blanking Berrien on one hit, a walk and two strikeouts.
In the Lee County game, Underwood led the hitting with two homers and five RBIs. Miles had a triple, two singles and an RBI, Burns had a pair of doubles and an RBI, Parlor doubled and drove in two runs, Sellers doubled and singled and drove in a run, Wood and Laisha Hernandez both drove in a run with a single, and Annalese Poole and Peyton Thigpen both singled.
Burns took the win on the mound. She threw four innings, giving up two runs, walking three and striking out three. Parlor pitched one inning, walking one and striking out one.
