Mrs. Lillian Scott Scarbour, 93
Graveside services for Mrs. Lillian Scott Scarbour, 93, who died July 25, surrounded by loving family members, were held July 31 at Northview Cemetery in Hazlehurst. The Rev. C. Frank Cobb, the Rev. Henry Josey, and Elder Eddie Harmon officiated.
Mrs. Scott, born in Hazlehurst, was the daughter of the late Robert and Louella Scott. She spent her childhood in Hazlehurst and graduated from Beach High School in Savannah. As a young lady she fulfilled her lifelong dream and moved to New York City. She later married Louis Scarbour and remained in New York most of her adult life. She worked for three generations with the Grossman Family and was beloved by them. In her senior years she returned to Hazlehurst, reunited with her church home, Mt. Calvary Baptist Church, and spent quality time with family and friends.
Survivors include her daughter, Myra Mills; son-in-law, Ronald Mills Sr.; grandchildren, Maya Mata-Mills (Gerardo) and Ronald Mills Jr.; great-grandchildren, Naomi and Noah Mata-Mills, all of Atlanta; sisters, Dorothy Harleston and Betty Kornegay, both of Hazlehurst; brother, Donald Scott of Atlanta; numerous nieces, nephews and a host of relatives and friends.
Providing music was Denise Dixon.
Thornton’s Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
