Mrs. Mavis Ann Clance Herndon, 84, of Denton, died July 7 at Hazlehurst Court Care.
Mrs. Herndon was born July 1, 1936, in Jeff Davis County to the late Otis Clance and the late Mary Newham Clance. She was a homemaker and her most dedicated profession was serving as a minister’s wife for many years. She was a founder and charter member of Hazlehurst Pentecostal Church.
She was preceded in death by a sister, Rita Mae Lowe.
Survivors include her husband, the Rev. Prentice Herndon of Denton; daughters and sons-in-law, Wendy and the Rev. Thomas Colter of Denton and Tammy and the Rev. Terry Davis of Denton; grandchildren, Freddie and Dedria Colter, Heather and Joseph Davis; great-grandchildren, Harleigh and Trevor Rentz, Hannah Wooten and Ethan Warnock, Ryleigh Colter, Olivia, Isabella and Joel Davis; sisters, Myrtle Frazier and Virginia Hand of Hazlehurst; nephews, Randy Rowell, Ricky (Teresa) Rowell.
Graveside services were held July 10 in Hazlehurst City Cemetery with the Rev. Frank Wyatt officiating.
Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home was in charge.
