Mrs. Joanne Akins Lewis, 64

Mrs. Joanne Akins Lewis, 64, of Hazlehurst, died May 27 at her residence.
Joanne was born Aug. 15, 1955, to the late Robert Russell Akins and the late Anna Gertrude Akins. She was formerly employed with Wayne County Board of Education as an English teacher and was a member of the Bridgeford Church of God.
Survivors include her husband, Arlee Lewis of Hazlehurst; daughter and son-in-law, Michelle and Chris Watts of Hazlehurst; brothers, Wesley (Barbara) Akins of Warner Robins, Larry (Kim) Akins of Gloucester, Va., and Tyler (Elaine) Akins of Powder Springs; sister, Karen Hopkins (Denford) Phillips of Knoxville, Tenn.; grandchildren, Coley Watts and Danyel Watts of Hazlehurst; several nieces and nephews.
Graveside services were held May 29 at Bridgeford Church of God Cemetery with the Rev. Jaime Rivera, the Rev. Richard Lewis and the Rev. Jeremy Deloach officiating.
Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home was in charge.
