Mr. Mordecai Wilcox, 59
King Brothers Funeral Home of Hazlehurst announces the death of Mr. Mordecai Wilcox, 59, who died March 27.
Mr. Wilcox was born April 11, 1960, in Jeff Davis County to the late Rev. William Riley Wilcox and the late Missionary Carrie Lott Wilcox. Mordecai grew up and attended school in Jeff Davis. He worked at several businesses in Hazlehurst. Beginning with Ridge Pallets and then Woody Folsom, Mordecai went on to start his own business, Wilcox Lawn and Handy Services.
Known throughout his community, Mordecai loved being outdoors. He was always on the go, which allowed him to be a help to the elderly and others in need. With eyes that always lit up when they saw you and a smile to match, Mordecai will be missed by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, William R. and Carrie Wilcox; siblings, Harriet Wilcox, James Riley Wilcox, and Carrie Elnora Rooks.
Survivors include sisters, Balinzie Mae Wilcox and Pastor Caldeen Wilcox; nieces Leslie Clark, Tara Wilcox, Denay Davis, and Chaka (Freddie) Cockrell; nephews Edward (Brianna) Rooks, Jermaine (Tracey) Wilcox, Jerald Wilcox, Justin Wilcox, Deondre Wilcox; a host of great-nephews and nieces, cousins, and friends; and special friend, Brenda Joyce Turner.
