Mr. Michael G. Rea, 57

Mr. Michael G. Rea, 57, of Hazlehurst, died March 17 in Community Hospice House in Vidalia, after an extended illness.
He was a lifelong resident of Jeff Davis County and worked 35 years with Hazlehurst Mills. He was a member of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Graham. Michael was a “picker” and collected knives, antique toy cars, and enjoyed woodworking. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Patty Elizabeth Courson Rea in 2018; and a sister, Mary Nell Bennett.
Mr. Rea is survived by one son, the Rev. Dr. Allen M. Rea and wife Kara; grandchildren, Katie, Hosanna, Isabella and Isaiah, all of Vidalia; step-daughters, Melissa Music of Monroe, and Holly Worth of Hazlehurst; brother, Buddy Rea and wife Myra of Denton; = sisters, Betty “Peanut” Batten of Hazlehurst and Sherry Preciado and husband Gary of Texas; and several nieces and nephews.
A graveside funeral was held March 19 in Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. Allen Rae officiating.
