Mr. L.W. Brantley Jr., 89, of Hazlehurst, died March 8 at his residence.
Mr. Brantley was born Aug. 23, 1930, in Jeff Davis County to the late Lott Warren Brantley Sr. and Alice Lee Herrington Brantley. He was a veteran of the United States Navy, retired farmer and a member of Philadelphia Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his son, Rodney Brantley, sisters, Ruby Bland, Gertrude Collins, Opal Ray, Inez Fleming, and Lillie Maude Newham.
Survivors include his wife, Patsy Strickland Brantley of Hazlehurst; daughters and sons-in-law, Laura and Dewey Newton of Statesboro and Robyn and Todd Robertson of Macon; son and daughter-in-law, Larry and Pannee Brantley of Hazlehurst; sister, Ethel Mae Hutcheson of Waycross; brother, James Brantley (Willie Mae) of Hazlehurst; 10 grandchildren; nieces and nephews.
Services were held March 11 in the chapel of Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home with Mrs. Shirley Walters giving a eulogy and the Rev. Tyrone Hutchinson officiating.
Interment followed in Philadelphia Baptist Church Cemetery.
Active pallbearers Greg Brantley, Hugh Brantley, Rob Stone, Glenn Kemp, David Ray, Stacey Strickland, Sean Strickland, and Walt Swain.
Music was rendered by Howard Ray.
Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home was in charge.
