Mr. Jimmy LonA Ray, 78

Mr. Jimmy LonA Ray, 78, passed away at his home March 13 following an extended illness.
Mr. Ray was born Jan. 27, 1942, in Hazlehurst. He was preceded in death by his parents, the late LonA Ray and Nina Mae Branch Ray and a daughter, Marcia Ray Hayes. He was a member of First Alliance Church and was formerly employed by Hazlehurst Mills, Jeff Davis County and the Jeff Davis County Board of Education. In his spare time, Jimmy loved to fish and spend time outdoors.
He is survived by daughter, Kandess (Kelvin) Sanders of Hazlehurst; son, Steve (Donna) Ray of Hazlehurst; sisters, Barbara (Charles) Gruber of Hazlehurst and Betty (Dennis) Swann of Rainbow City, Ala.; brother, Edward (Kathy) Ray of Key West, Fla.; son-in-law and daughter-in-law, Stacey and Ann Hayes; five grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. March 19 in First Alliance Church.
