County meeting lasts 15 minutes

The Jeff Davis County Commission’s agenda for last Tuesday’s February meeting was a short one and took only 15 minutes to complete.
After approving the minutes and agreeing to pay the bills, the commissioners heard from Fire Chief Charles Wasdin who asked the group to approve a Statewide Mutual Aid and Assistance Agreement, saying, “We sign these about every five years. Every city and county in the state sign these and it basically states that we’ll provide mutual aid during an emergency or disaster.”
The commissioners approved his request.
The commission approved the purchase of a 1996 E-One International Commercial Pumper for $55,000 for the Snipesville Fire Station, appointed Terry Stone to represent the county on the Southeast Georgia Regional Development Authority, authorized county administrator Keith Carter to get bids on a work truck for the County Road Department and, after hearing chairman Ricky Crosby describe a piece of equipment used in Coffee County, instructed Carter and Road Superintendent Robert Lewis to check on it.
