Mrs. Sonia Vanessa McNeely, 59

Services for Mrs. Sonia Vanessa McNeely, 59, who died Jan. 31, was held Feb. 8 at Bennett Tabernacle Church.
The Rev. Joseph McLeod, Pastor Moses Eason Sr., Pastor C.D. Johnson and the Rev. Sylvester Lett officiated with burial in Surrency Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Surrency.
Mrs. McNeely, born in Hazlehurst, was the daughter of the late Wilbert and Bertha Sanders of Hazlehurst. She was educated in Jeff Davis County School System and attended Hazlehurst High School. She was employed by Alco for over 30 years. She was also a faithful employee of Jeff Davis Hospital and Jeff Davis County Elementary School. She was a dedicated employee and later retired due to health issues. She was a faithful member of Elizabeth Missionary Baptist Church in Hazlehurst. She loved shooting pool, attending motorcycle events and spending time with her grandchildren. Preceding her in death were her parents, Wilbert and Bertha Sanders; husband, Roma McNeely Sr. and brothers, Robert Sanders and Johnny Lee Sanders.
Survivors include her sons, Terry (Tremealia) Sanders Sr., Roma (Linda) McNeely Jr. and Joseph (Keamoney) McNeely; stepchildren, Katrina Jackson and Cedric Frederick; grandchildren, Javorian McNeely, Daija Smith, Terriyonna Cummings, Jasmin McNeely, Terri Sanders, Da’Khari “Buddy” Enix, Calyssa Gaskins, Terry Sanders Jr., Janiah McNeely, Raegan McNeely, Elijah McNeely, Khalil Frederick, Rayshawn Reddish and Melik Young; siblings, Willie (Elizabeth) Sanders, Leroy Sanders, Bobbie Jean (John) Moss, Daisy Chatman, Felton Sanders, Henry Sanders, and Monica Locke and a host of relatives and friends.
Active pallbearers were members of Motorcycle Clubs.
Honorary pallbearers were members of American Pool Players Association.
Music was rendered by Mattie Parker, Kristy Bennett, Siblings, and The Eason Family.
Thornton Funeral Home of Hazlehurst was in charge of arrangements.
