Mr. Harold ‘Hal’ Gibbs, 84

Mr. Harold “Hal” J. Gibbs, 84, of Uvalda, died Feb. 6 at Lumber City Nursing Home.
Mr. Gibbs was born May 25, 1935, in Uvalda to the late Harold L. Gibbs and the late Gladys Johnson Gibbs. He was a retired assistant vice-president/head teller with Altamaha Bank and Trust and was a member of Uvalda United Methodist Church. He is preceded in death by his sisters, Mildred Gibbs Sammons, Kathryn L. Gibbs, Mary Gibbs Kelhear, and brother, Myrick A. Gibbs.
Survivors include his wife, Mary Ann Merritt Gibbs of Uvalda; daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Ray Yawn of Hazlehurst; granddaughter, Holly Yawn Chaney (Tyler); grandson, Joshua Yawn; great-granddaughter, Brooklyn Chaney and great-grandson, Alec Chaney.
Services were held Feb. 9 at Eureka Baptist Church with the Rev. Michael Creamer officiating. Interment followed in Uvalda City Cemetery.
Honorary pallbearers were staff and employees of Altamaha Bank and Trust of Hazlehurst, Uvalda and Vidalia, and all family and friends in attendance.
Active pallbearers were Randall Morris, Howard Morris, Lloyd Moses, Melvin Kramer, Joe Yawn and Brent Sammons.
Music was rendered by Hal Cox and Jeffery Spell.
Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home was in charge.
