Mrs. Marell Rentz Carter, 84

Mrs. Marell Rentz Carter, 84, of Hazlehurst, died Jan. 26 at her son’s residence.
Mrs. Carter was born Oct. 6, 1935, in Jeff Davis County to the late Joe Marvin Scott Rentz and the late Pauline McNeal Rentz. She was a homemaker and a member of Amazing Grace Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her husband, of 58 years, Eugene Carter, daughter-in-law, Shae Carter, siblings, Marvie Rentz, Joe Rentz, Felton Rentz, and Shorty Rentz.
Survivors include sons and daughter-in-law, James Carter of Hazlehurst and David and Gayle Carter of Hazlehurst; sisters, Mary Catherine Clark of Uvalda, Margaret Herrington of Baxley, Martha Lolley and Helen Padgett both of Hazlehurst; grandchildren, Deidra (Josh) Higgins, Scott (Erin) Carter and Shannon Carter (John Smith) all of Hazlehurst; great-grandchildren, Trent Tanner, Alyssa Tanner of Hazlehurst, Jaxton Higgins of Hazlehurst, Logan Higgins, Laini Higgins, and Landon Higgins all of Atlanta, Grayson Carter and Peyton Carter of Hazlehurst; several nieces and nephews.
Services were held Jan. 28 at Mt. Zion Baptist Church with the Rev. Robert Wigley officiating. Interment followed in Hazlehurst Memorial Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Danny Carter, Mark Carter, Randall Clark, Rod Rentz, Brad Leggett, and Sam Coleman.
Music was rendered by Jeffery Spell and Kenny Mobley.
Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home was in charge.
