Funeral services for Mrs. Ellene Woodard Reddick, 78, of Cordele, were held Jan. 16 at Christ Episcopal Church in Cordele with Fr. Dave Johnson and Deacon John Lane officiating.
Barbara Woods, organist, provided the music and accompanied the congregation as they sang “Be Thou My Wisdom” and “I Am The Bread Of Life.” The Communion Hymns were “Seek Ye First” and “Let Us Break Bread Together On Our Knees.” “I Come With Joy To Meet My Lord” was the closing hymn.
Burial followed in Sunnyside Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Clay Clark, Reid Clark, Chip Flanders, Jess Woodard, Troy Long and David Carroll.
Ellene passed away Jan. 14 at Capital Regional Medical Center in Tallahassee, Fla. She was preceded in death by her husband, Graydon Dennis Reddick Jr. She was born in Hazlehurst, the daughter of the late Jesse Cecil and Evelyn O’Quinn Woodard. Ellene was a teacher (RET) in the Crisp County School System. She loved her friends and her church family at Christ Episcopal Church where she was always very active. She was an avid reader, especially her Bible and enjoyed gardening and working in her yards. Ellene was an animal lover and adored all her pets, one being her dog, DeeDee. Most important to her though was her family and the time that she was able to spend with them.
She is survived by three children, Skip Reddick of Colbert, Leigh Long and her husband, Troy of Valdosta and Scott Reddick of Cordele; her siblings and their spouses, Harriet and Jackie Clark of Hazlehurst, Cecile and George Flanders of Lancaster, S.C. and Jay and Sue Woodard of Hazlehurst; and grandchildren, Caroline Prine and Brooklyn Prine, both of Valdosta and Allie Caroline Long and Anna Claire Long, both of Blackshear.
The family suggests that any memorial donations be made to Christ Episcopal Church of Cordele, 619 East 15th Avenue, Cordele, GA 31015.
