Girls Win Three

Jeff Davis High’s girls basketball team took three victories last week to improve to 5-0.

The wins included a remarkable comeback victory over Metter Friday night in Metter when the Lady Jackets found themselves in a 31-10 deficit at halftime. And they rallied in the second half to outscore Metter 40-16 to take an exciting 50-47 victory.
The other wins came Tuesday night in Hazlehurst with a 52-35 win over Toombs County and Saturday in Baxley with a 31-22 win over Appling County.
In the Toombs County game, JD spotted Toombs to a 15-9 first quarter lead but it was all Jeff Davis after that as they rolled to the 52-25 win.
Keke McDuffie led the victory with 15 points. Dee Wooten had seven, Morgan Yearty and Tia Cornish six each, Tania Hall four and Jakhia Greene two.
In Metter, Greene led the comeback with 16 second half points, including a pair of 3-pt. shots in the third quarter. She finished the night with a career high 19 points.

In Baxley, the Lady Jackets and Lady Pirates fought to an 8-8 tie in the first quarter. From there, Jeff Davis pulled steadily away to lead 27-15 entering the final quarter when Appling closed the gap by three points.
