Ms. Twyla Simone Kirby, 41
Services for Ms. Twyla Simone Kirby, 41, who died Nov. 1 at Jeff Davis Hospital, were held Nov. 9 at Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church.
Moderator E. Neal Dixon and Pastor Cyprus O’Neal officiated with burial in Hill Memorial Gardens.
Ms Kirby, daughter of Rueben and Gloria Eloise Mitchell Kirby, was born in Hazlehurst. At an early age, she joined Mount Calvary Missionary Baptist Church and remained a faithful and loyal member. She was a graduate of Jeff Davis High School Class of 1996. She furthered her education with AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps. When she was only seven years old, Twyla was diagnosed with Type II diabetes. She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Mae Kirby Montford; grandfather, Joseph “Joe” Clinton, and grandfather, Henry Keno Mitchell.
Survivors include her parents, Rueben and Gloria Kirby; her siblings, Cedric (Georgie) Kirby of Hazlehurst, Kimberly (Jermaine) Rountree of Warner Robins, and Jason (Shemika) Kirby of Spring Lake, N.C.; grandmother, Carolyn Hill Mitchell of Hazlehurst; step-mother, Ann Rose Clinton of Savannah; seven aunts, six uncles, nine great-aunts, eight great-uncles, 12 nieces, 13 nephews, a dear family friend, Jacqueline James, and a host of family and friends.
Active pallbearers were Cameron Kirby, Jaylene Kirby, Jermon Rountree, Jason Nieves, Mitchell Gene Christie, Ja’Queze Kirby JaShaun Kirby, Tyriq Howell, Jayden Watson and Coby Mitchell.
Honorary pallbearers were the Class of 1996, Rozious TheLenis Montford, Charles Mitchell, Dr. Cornelius Wooten, Frank Givens, Minister Darrell Mitchell, Bruce Mitchell, Johnny Myles, Gene Christie, Arvin Berry Sr., and Rodney Hall.
Music was rendered by Tri-County Community Choir, Johnny Myles, Denise Dixon, Stephanie Jefferson, and Pastor Reginald Cordy
Thornton’s Funeral home of Hazlehurst was in charge of arrangements.
