Community Celebrates Veterans Day

A group of local U.S. Army veterans stood and offered salutes as their branch of the military was honored.

The weather was perfect for Monday’s annual Veterans Day ceremony sponsored by the Jeff Davis County Veterans Association and held at Veterans Park on Tallahassee Street. This year’s event focused on women veterans and Debra O’Neal, a U.S. Navy veteran who is an officer with the Georgia Department of Veteran Services office in Lyons, was the keynote speaker.
