Hospital has new mammography equipment

Employees at Jeff Davis Hospital pride themselves on providing high quality care to patients, including a welcoming environment, knowledgeable staff and the best technology on the market.
The hospital has implemented a new state-of-the-art mammography system to provide more accurate and more comfortable screenings.
The Hologic 3 Dimensions mammography system transforms the patient experience several ways:
• Better, earlier detection. The exam is more accurate and detects 20-65% more invasive breast cancers compared to 2D.
• More comfortable. Fear of pain prevents many women from having regular breast imaging. The 3 Dimensions system features the SmartCurve breast stabilization system to deliver more comfort.
• Fewer false alarms. The system reduces callbacks by up to 40%.
• Better for dense breasts. The exam is FDA approved as superior for women with dense breasts and has greater accuracy for women of a variety of ages.
Increasing access to superior technology will make a huge impact on the community and make the hospital better positioned to detect cancer earlier, before costly and more invasive treatments are needed.
The hospital also has acquired a DXA system from Hologic and can now offer bone mineral density screenings for patients at risk for osteoporosis.
