Field is set for softball finals

Columbus Bound!!

The stage is set for this weekend’s Georgia High School Association Class AA Softball Tournament in Columbus.
Jeff Davis High’s Lady Jackets will face Lamar County Thursday at 4 p.m. A win will put them in a 10 a.m. Friday game against the winner of Banks County and Bremen. A loss will drop them into the losers bracket to face the loser of Banks and Bremen at 2 p.m. Friday.
On the other side of the bracket, also at 4 p.m. Thursday, Harlem plays Heard County and Vidalia faces Rockmart.
Lamar County, 20-9, defeated Dodge County 16-3 in four innings and 11-0 in five innings to make it to Columbus. The Lady Trojans were the No. 2 seed from Region 5-AA which has two other member schools, No. 3 seed Bremen and No. 1 seed Heard County, also playing in Columbus. MaxPreps ranks Lamar County as the No. 5 team in the state in Class AA and the AJC has them at No. 9
