Softball wins 3 of 4 games

Jeff Davis High’s softball team won three of four games last week to improve to 12-11 and 8-5 in Region 2-AA, taking the No. 4 seed into this week’s region playoffs.
The Lady Jackets defeat Metter 11-5 Monday in Metter, fell 7-2 to Vidalia Tuesday in Hazlehurst, topped Telfair County 7-4 in a non-region game Wednesday in Hazlehurst and traveled to Swainsboro Thursday coming back with a 10-1, 5-inning win.
The Lady Jackets found themselves down 7-0 to Vidalia before scoring single runs in the sixth and seventh to close the score to 7-2.
The run in the sixth came on a two-out rally as Annalese Poole singled and scored on a throwing error after Bianca Torres singled. In the seventh, Jakhia Greene and Paige Carter opened with back-to-back walks, and Greene scored as Fefe Greene grounded out to third.
Alicia Lilliott’s double was the top JD hit. Georgia Roberts, Poole, Torres and Tia Cornish each singled and Fefe Greene and Torres both had an RBI.
Kesleigh Poe took the loss on the mound. She went 5 1/3 innings, giving up five earned runs on eight hits, walking three, hitting one and striking out four. Kelsey Parlor threw 1 2/3 innings, blanking Vidalia on no hits, walking none and striking out one.
Wooten went 4-for-4 with three RBI in the 7-4 win over Telfair County.
Fefe Greene led off the bottom of the first with an inside the park homer to put JD up 1-0.
Jeff Davis added three runs in the second. Jakhia Greene reached on a walk, Fefe Greene doubled and Paige Carter grounded out to third to score Jakhia Greene. Wooten then followed with a 2-run homer to make it 4-0.
Paige Carter had a 2-run singled in the fourth and Wooten followed with a run-scoring single as Jeff Davis pushed its lead to 7-1.
Wooten had three singles, a homer and four RBI. Fefe Greene doubled and homered and drove in a run, Paige Carter singled and drove in three runs, Roberts had a double and a single, and Allie Lytle, Schroeder and Jakhia Greene each had singles.
Parlor went five innings on the mound to pick up the win. All four runs scored against her were unearned. She gave up eight hits, walked none and struck out one. Kesleigh Poe pitched two no-hit innings, walking one and striking out none.
The Lady Jackets had no problem with Swainsboro, winning 10-1 in five innings.
Roberts started the scoring in the first inning, driving in Paige Carter with a single.
A pair of Lady Tiger errors in the second and two more in the third gave JD a 3-0 lead.
Poole singled and Lilliott followed with a homer in the fourth to make it 5-0.
Fefe Greene led off the fifth with a double, Wooten walked and Roberts singled to drive in Greene. Poole then reached on an error as Wooten and Roberts both scored to up the tally to 8-0. Pinch runner Schroeder made her way to third on a passed ball and scored on a Lilliott double. Lytle came on to run for Lilliott, stole third and scored on a passed ball to account for the final run.
Lilliott had a double, a homer and three RBI, Roberts had a pair of singles and two RBI, Poole singled and drove in two runs, and Fefe Greene singled.
Poe pitched all five innings, giving up an unearned run on five hits, walking none and striking out five.
