Mrs. Mary Ann Hollis Allen, 71

Funeral service for Mrs. Mary Ann Hollis Allen, who died Aug. 19 at Hazlehurst Court Care, was held Aug. 24 at Full Gospel Church of God, Lumber City, with Bishop William Hollis, Elect Lady Estella Hollis, Pastor Naomi Conaway, Evangelist Felecia Wilcox, and Minister Mary Hollis. Interment was in Cedar Grove Cemetery in Lumber City.

Mrs. Allen, affectionately called “Gramps,” was born Sept. 7, 1947, to the late Raymond and Maude Riggen Hollis in Smithville, Miss.
The family relocated to Lumber City, where she attended Lumber City Elementary School. She was a lifelong member of Full Gospel Church of God Written in Heaven of Lumber City. She was married to the late L. C. Allen and to this union two children were born, the late Alfred Allen and the late Lillie Ruth Allen Davis.
Mary was a homemaker, baby-sitter, hairdresser and loved to cook. She will forever be remembered as a compassionate person, who loved her family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her spouse, children Alfred and Lillie Ruth; siblings Samson (Stella Mae) Hollis, Willie B. Hollis, Shirley Hollis Young, Diane (Robert) Stegall, John Earl (Joyce) Hollis and Shirley Genette Hollis Harvey; father and mother-in-law, Otis and Johnnie Mae Stewart Allen; sister-in-law, Flora Allen; and step-daughter, Teshia Tobler.
Survivors include brother and sister-in-law, Bishop William and Elect Lady Estella Hollis, who has been her guardians after the death of their parents; great-grandson raised as her son, Mark Jones Jr.; son-in-law, Wade Davis, all of Lumber City; grandchildren Tiffany Latae Allen Jordan and Isaac (Amanda) Davis II of Lumber City; and Franshon (Marigus Andreall) Sampson of Hazlehurst; great grands Iyuri Sampson, Marigus Sampson, Jr., Ian Allen, Andrez Sampson, Marquita Garnes, Markeai Garnes, Shacourtney Davis, Isacc McCory III, and Jamiah Robinson; siblings Alonza (Janice) Hollis of Tupelo, Miss., and Evangelist Taressa (Jonathan) Carr of Lumber City; sisters Celestine (Winfred) Robinson, Janice (Eddie, Jr.) Conaway, all of Lumber City, and Patricia (Hirosha) Thomas of Hazlehurst; uncles Ernest Hollis of Cleveland, Ohio, and James (Betty) Hollis of Tupelo, Miss.; sisters-in-law Sylvia Robinson and Brenda McMillian, both of Lumber City, and Runnell Hollis of Jacksonville, Fla.; dear friend Mary Alice Hollis of Hazlehurst; step-son, Willie Charles (Sabrina) Tobler of McRae; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Pallbearers were Wade Davis, Eddie Conaway Jr., Deja Brown, Aaron Clements, Marigus Sampson, and Kerry Clark. Flower bearers were nieces and friends of the family.
King Brothers Funeral Home was in charge.
