Roppe Is New Superintendent

At an April 30 called meeting, the Jeff Davis County Board of Education made it official, unanimously approving Chris Roppe as the new School Superintendent to replace retiring Superintendent Dr. Stan Rentz.
Two weeks earlier, the board had announced that Roppe was the lone finalist for the job and then waited the legally required 14 days before finalizing the decision.
In other action at the meeting, the board hired Tristan Abend and Amiee Green as ELA teachers at the high school, accepted the end of the school year resignations of Nathan McLeod, Cindy Morris, Tiffany Briceno, Thomas Boyd, Marcella Alexander and Gabriel Gay, and approved the cross country teams’ out-of-state trip to the Disney Cross Country Classic Oct. 11-12 in Orlando, Fla.
