Jayvees split games

Jeff Davis High’s jayvee baseball team took a 12-1 win over Vidalia Wednesday in Vidalia and fell 12-5 to Appling County in a 10-inning game Saturday in Hazlehurst.
Against Vidalia, Ethan Hulett was 5-for-5 at the plate with two RBIs to lead the victory. Cole Baucom had a double, a single and an RBI, Cam Williams had a double, a single and an RBI, Matthew White had a double and single and two RBI, Tyler Brewer had a double and three RBI, Ham Hayes had a double and an RBI, and Dalton Sellers and Josh Griffin both singled.
Williams was the winning pitcher, going five innings and giving up one run on two hits, walking none and striking out four. Trenton Clance pitched an inning, giving up no runs on no hits, walking none and striking out none. And White threw an inning, giving up no runs on no hits, walking none and striking out two.
Against Appling, Ethan Hulett and Matthew Glass both had a pair of singles, Hamp Hayes and Cam Williams both doubled with Williams’ double driving in a run, Trenton Clance had a single and two RBI, Andrew Aycock and Matthew White both singled, and Conner Rea drove in a run.
White started on the mound, going five innings and giving up two earned runs on five hits, walking one and striking out four. Josh Griffin pitched an inning, giving up two runs on two hits, walking none and striking out none. Aycock pitched two innings, blanking Appling on one hit, walking two and striking out two. Hulett pitched an inning, giving up two earned runs on one hit, walking three and striking out two. Clance pitched an inning, giving up no runs on one hit, walking one and striking out one.
