Jayvees fall in eight to Wayne

Jeff Davis High’s jayvee baseball team fell to Wayne County 6-5 in eight innings last Wednesday in Jesup.
The JD Jackets out-hit the Wayne Jackets 7-5 but six fielding errors doomed them.
Cole Baucom led the offense with a pair of singles, Hamp Hayes had a single and two RBI, Andrew Aycock singled and drove in a run, and Ethan Hulett, Matthew Glass and Trenton Clance each singled. Hulett added a sacrifice.
Matthew White pitched three innings, giving up four unearned runs on three hits, walking one and striking out four. Cam Williams pitched two innings, giving up one run on no hits, walking three and striking out four. Josh Williams pitched 2 1/3 innings, giving up an unearned run on one hit, a walk and four strikeouts.
