JDMS Blue Wins Two
Jeff Davis Middle School Blue Team picked up a pair of wins Saturday in Waycross, downing Camden County Middle School 6-1 and blasting St. Mary’s Middle School 20-0.
The Yellow Jackets jumped on St. Mary’s in a hurry, scoring 20 runs in the first two innings to take a 3-inning, 20-0 victory.
They banged out 11 hits, led by Alex Mason with a triple, a single and two RBI. Ethan Griffin had a double, a single and four RBI, Kamden Munsayac had a pair of singles and four RBI, Tre Rea had two singles and two RBI, Tucker Rigdon doubled and drove in two runs, Hayden Turner and Carter Mullis each had a single and an RBI, and Jonas Coleman drove in a run and had a sacrifice fly.
Mullins and Cason Clance both stole three bases, Rea had two steals, and Mason, Munsayac and Ethan Picanso stole one base each.
Mason and Grayson Googe combined to retire all nine St. Mary’s batters who came to the plate, eight by strikeouts and the other on a grounder to third.
Mason was the winning pitcher, no-hitting St. Marys in two innings on the mound, walking none and striking out five of the six batters he faced. Grayson Googe pitched one inning, earning a save as he struck out all three batters he faced.
Against Camden, Mullis had a double, a single and two RBI to lead JDMS. Mason had a double and two RBI, Griffin doubled and drove in a run, Duke Stone singled and drove in a run, Clance singled, and Googe had an RBI. Clance and Stone both stole a base.
Rigdon was the winning pitcher, going four innings, giving up no runs on four hits, walking none and striking out four. Mullis earned a save, pitching one inning, giving up one run on one hit, walking two and striking out three.
