Two Indicted In Family Pet’s Death

Two Hazlehurst men were indicted last week by the Jeff Davis County Grand Jury and accused of shooting a family’s pet dog Dec. 30, 2018, on Kendall Stone Road, paralyzing the dog which led to it being euthanized.
Michael George Walls and Marvin Wilson were named in a five-count indictment.
Both were charged with aggravated cruelty to animals for causing the death of the labrador retriever by shooting him with a Rossi .22 caliber rifle which resulted in the animal being paralyzed.
Both were accused in separate counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Walls was charged with reckless conduct for shooting the dog. And Wilson was charged with making a false statement by telling a deputy that he saw a vehicle go by and then saw the dog scooting on his back two legs when, in fact, he was present when the dog was shot with the rifle.
In a separate indictment, Tyler Lorenza Knox was indicted on counts of sale of cocaine on May 17, 2018, and sale of marijuana on May 4, 2018.
