Middle School Wins Conference Title
Jeff Davis Middle School’s softball team ended its regular season with an 11-3 win over East Laurens and then swept through two games in the conference tournament to win the 2018 Conference Championship. In the tournament, they defeated Dodge County 3-2 in the semifinals and downed West Laurens 6-3 in the finals.
The Lady Jackets ended the season with a 19-3 record and a 14-game win streak.
In the East Laurens game, Jenna Miles doubled, Ella Wood had two singles and two RBI, Analese Poole had two singles and four RBI, Maeleigh Burns had a double, a single and two RBI, Kelsey Parlor and Summer Wyatt singled, and Laniyah Vann had a single and an RBI.
Parlor pitched a one-hitter, walking two and striking out 10 in just five innings.
In the tournament semifinals, Jeff Davis defeated Dodge County 3-2.
Miles had a single and an RBI, and Poole, Parlor, Wyatt and Vann each singled.
Parlor gave up four hits, walked one, hit a batter and struck out six.
In the finals, Burns had a double, two singles and two RBI, Wood had two singles, Wyatt doubled in a run, Underwood, Vann and Payton Thigpen each had a single and an RBI, and Miles and Parlor singled.
Parlor gave up seven hits, walked two and struck out six.
