Badly Needed Bye Week
It’s bye week for the Jeff Davis High football team and an extra week of rest is something badly needed by the Yellow Jackets.
Injuries are at a staggering number as 21 players have been sidelined or seeing diminished playing time as their wounds heel.
Coach Lance Helton enumerated the injuries this week.
The team is dealing with a broken arm, two broken collar bones, two shoulder injuries, two back injuries, three knee problems, five ankle injuries and six head/neck/illness problems including concussions.
Seventeen of the 21 players are not dressing out for practices or games.
With the week off, hopefully most of those players will be back on the field for the Sept. 14 game against Bacon County.
