JDMS Softball Wins 2 of 3
Jeff Davis Middle School’s softball team opened its season last Monday with an 8-4, 8-inning loss at the hands of West Laurens. But they rebounded for a 2-1, 8-inning win over Ware County Wednesday and a 16-1, 4-inning victory over Swainsboro Thursday.
Against West Laurens, Jenna Miles and Summer Wyatt both had a pair of singles and an RBI, Laniyah Vann doubled in a run, and Payton Thigpen and Kayleigh Sellers both singled.
Kelsey Parlor was the winning pitcher. She pitched eight innings, giving up six earned runs on 10 hits, walking three, and striking out three.
Miles and Bentlee Metts both had stolen bases.
In the Ware game, Analese Poole had a pair of singles and an RBI, and Miles and Wyatt both singled. Sellers drove in a run.
Jaci Underwood was the winning pitcher, going all eight innings. She gave up one run on three hits, walked one, hit two batters, and struck out two.
Wyatt had a stolen base.
The Lady Jackets scored 10 of their 16 runs in the fourth inning against Swainsboro to win in four innings.
Sellers was 4-for-4 with three RBI, Parlor had a double, two singles and three RBI, Ella Wood drove in three runs with a trio of singles, and Wyatt and Vann both doubled in a run.
Parlor was the winning pitcher, pitching all four innings. She gave up an unearned run on three hits, a walk and seven strikeouts.
Wood stole two bases and Miles one.
