Mr. Kariem Conaway, 46

Services for Mr. Kariem Conaway, 46, who died May 13, were held May 19 at Bennett Tabernacle Holiness Church in Hazlehurst.
The Rev. Joyce Batten, Pastor Henry Josey and Elder Eddie Harmon officiated with burial in Hall Wilcox Cemetery in Hazlehurst.
Mr. Conaway, born in Newark, N.J., was the son of Aaron Conaway and Pearlie Walker (Barnett). He attended Jeff Davis HighSchool and graduated with the Class of 1989. After graduation Kariem enlisted in the United States Navy. During his military career he served in Operation Desert Storm. When he returned home from military life, he later was employed by Amerced for several years and Hazlehurst Mills. He obtained an Associates degree from Altamaha Technical College and became employed as a Certified HVAX Technicial. Most recently he was employed as a commercial driver for Woody Folsom car dealership. He was also a dedicated member of Antioch C.M.E. Church of Hazlehurst.
Survivors include his wife, Elouise Vann Conaway; children, Maiya, Keon, Ashley, Jaquaan, Kariem, Kariemah, Kenon, Kyare, Kaniya and Zakiya; parents, Aaron Conaway and Pearlie Walker (Barnett); five siblings, Tanya McMillan (Adam), Tekesia Conaway, Nathifa Conaway, Khalid Conaway (Cameo), Annur Hamilton; five step-siblings, Sheila Knox (Willie), Laron Jackson (James), Felicia Wilcox (Greg), Kim Heller (Undray), Stevie Walker; nine grandchildren; loving memories of in-laws, James Vann Sr. (Clara), James Vann Jr. (Betty), Robert Vann (Nancy), Lee Willie Vann, Glory Hill (Jimmy), Betty Wallace (Virgil), and Cassia Cooper (Cornell) and a host of relatives and friends.
Music was rendered by Minister Andrew Mincey Jr. and Antonio Wilson.
Active pallbearers were cousins and friends.
Honorary pallbearers were cousins and friends.
Thornton Funeral Home of Hazlehurst was in charge of arrangements.
