Bonner Performing Well At Truett-McConnell

JDHS alumus Donald Bonner had an impressive sophomore season at Truett-McConnell University.
Bonner competed in multiple individual events in Indoor and Outdoor Track and Field for the Bears. On March 10 at the Paine Lions Invitational he took 1st in the men’s triple jump with a jump of 14.72 meters (48 ft., 3 1/2 in.). That mark qualified him for the NAIA National Track and Field Championship in Mobile, Ala., May 24-26, earned him Appalachian Athletic Conference Men’s Track and Field Athlete of the Week and also set a new TMU record in the triple jump.
Just a few weeks later Bonner had a another big meet at the Emory Classic as he broke another school record in the 400 meter hurdles running a personal best time of 55.35.
At the Appalachian Athletic Conference Championship he competed in six events. He picked up points in 4 of the 6 events scoring 16 points for his TMU Bears who finished 5th overall in the conference. His meet highlight was capturing the triple jump conference championship.
Bonner finished the season at the NAIA National Track and Field Championship in 22nd place in the triple jump, however his season best mark of 14.72 meters from the Paine Lions Invitational placed him as the 13th best jump in the NAIA during the 2018 season.
Bonner was also awarded the Field Event of the Year and the Bear Award at the TMU Athletic Awards Ceremony.
