Jackets Face Elbert County

Jeff Davis High’s sweep of Westside last week puts the Jackets into the Elite Eight of the GHSA State Baseball Playoffs. They travel to Elberton today (Wednesday) to face Elbert County in a rematch of the 2017 title series won by the Jackets.
The Jackets are the No. 2 seed from Region 2-AA and the Patriots were the No. 1 seed from 4-AA.
In other playoff games last week, Heard County, No. 2 5-AA, defeated Dade County, No. 1 7-AA, 23-7, 13-5; Elbert County, No. 1 8-AA, downed Lamar County, No. 3 5-AA, 11-0, 5-1; Callaway, No. 1 5-AA, topped Rabun County, No. 3 8-AA, 3-0, 9-7; Thomasville, No. 1 1-AA edged Harlem, No. 3 4-AA, 12-1, 3-4, 4-1; Social Circle, No. 2 8-AA, swept Jordan, No. 4 5-AA, 11-2, 15-3; and Benedictine, No. 1 2-AA, rolled over Screven County, No. 2 4-AA, 16-1, 17-1.
This week’s other games have Berrien at Heard, Callaway at Thomasville and Social Circle at Benedictine.
