Jackets Defeat Dodge County

Jeff Davis High’s boys soccer team defeated Dodge County Wednesday in Eastman to advance to the Elite Eight of the State Soccer Tournament.
But Friday in Model, the Jackets fell 4-0 to Model High School to end their season.
In Eastman, Moises Briceno made the Jackets’ fourth kick from the mark in overtime to lift JD to a 3-3, 4-1 win.
The regulation game ended in a 2-2 tie. After two 5-minute overtime periods, the Jackets and Indians were tied at 3-3 and went into the kick from the mark final overtime set. With Dodge making only one of its first three attempts, Briceno stepped to the mark with the Jackets up 3-1. His kick sealed the victory.
The Jackets were the No. 3 seed from Region 2-AA. Dodge was the No. 1 seed from 3-AA. Model was the No. 1 seed from 7-AA.
In other Friday matches, Putnam County, 8-AA No. 1, defeated Harlem, 4-AA No. 1, 4-2; Thomasville, 1-AA No. 1 downed Peppered, 7-AA No. 2, 1-1, 8-7; and Benedictine, 2-AA No. 1 bested Armuchee, 7-AA, No. 3, 4-0.
This week Thomasville hosts Benedictine and Putnam County travels to Model.
