Mrs. Lillie Maude Newham, 90
Mrs. Lillie Maude Newham, 90, of Hazlehurst, died April 13 at Serenity Hospice Place in Dublin.
Mrs. Newham was born Nov. 2, 1927, in Jeff Davis County to the late Lott Brantley and the late Lillie Herrington Brantley. She was a housewife, retired pastor’s Wife and a member of Bridgeford Church of God for 76 years. She is preceded in death by her sisters, Gertrude Collins, Ruby Bland, Inez Fleming and Opal Ray.
Survivors include her husband of almost 72 years, the Rev. Max Newham of Hazlehurst; daughters and sons-in-law, Jan and Jay Purvis of Cochran and Wanda and Merle Sebald of Eatonton; grandson, Jon Chester (Rebecca) of Lancaster, Penn.; great-grandson, Jase Chester of Lancaster, Penn.; great-granddaughter, Renee Joines (James) of Norcross and Macy Wambolt (Daryl) of Edmonton, Canada; great-great-grandson Maxwell Wambolt of Edmonton, Canada; sister, Ethel Mae Hutcheson of Waycross; brothers, L.W. Brantley (Patsy) of Hazlehurst and James Brantley (Willie Mae) of Hazlehurst; several nieces and nephews.
Services were held April 16 at Bridgeford Church of God with the Rev. Tyrone Hutcheson and the Rev. Mike Palma officiating. Interment followed in Hazlehurst City Cemetery.
Active pallbearers were Jimmy McLeod, Walt Swain, Donnie McEachin, Larry Brantley, Glen Kemp and Jimmie Ryles.
Musical selections were rendered by Nita McLeod and Beverly Swain.
Wainright-Parlor Funeral Home was in charge.
