Cody Ogilvie gets first win as Hawk
JDHS graduate Cody Ogilvie was the winning pitcher for South Georgia State College last Tuesday as the Hawks defeated Georgia Highlands 14-4 in Douglas.
Ogilvie had an outstanding day on the mound, holding Highlands hitless over the final four innings of the game. He gave up no walks and struck out six.
Ogilvie needed only 42 pitches in the four innings, with 34 of the pitches thrown for strikes. He faced 13 batters and threw first pitch strikes to 10 of those.
For the week, SGSC swept four games from Georgia Highlands giving them a 27-14 overall record and a 13-6 record in the Georgia Collegiate Athletic Association, good enough for second place in the ranking.
Ogilvie, a freshman and Georgia’s 2018 Class AA Player of the Year, has seen limited action with the Hawks and last week’s stint on the mound was his longest, and best of the year. He has a 1-0 record with the Hawks.
