Veterans recognition at homecoming football game
The staff and students of Jeff Davis High School will salute local veterans during the halftime show of the Nov. 13 football game with East Laurens High School. The ceremony includes recognition of veterans, the traditional laying of a wreath and patriotic music by Jeff Davis High School Band.
Tickets to the game are provided at no cost to veterans but must be reserved before Nov. 10 by calling Brian Newell of the Jeff Davis County Veterans Association at 912-347-2710.
Veterans who plan to attend are provided reserved parking near the field house. Veterans should gather at the 50-yard line about five minutes before the end of the second quarter. Seating on the field will be provided for veterans during the halftime program, which should last about 15 minutes.
In light of the coronavirus pandemic, the Veterans Association has elected to not hold its annual Veterans Day ceremony at Veterans Square Park.
